Respirators
The OSHA standard for respirator protection is here: 29 CFR 1910.134
It is more clearly stated here per Occupational Health and Safety Magazine

- Per Bullet Point – Paragraph three
- Distribution system: From the compressor, the air has to be transported to the work area where the workers can use it. Air distribution manifolds are a common way of aiding employers with this task. These manifolds (referred to as “points of attachment” in the regulations) consist of 1) a coupling that connects the respirator breathing air supply hose to the source of breathing air, 2) a pressure regulator, and 3) a pressure gauge. Often, these points of attachment will be an integral part of the filtration system and CO monitor. NIOSH and OSHA require that everything from the point of attachment to the worker be part of the approved respirator assembly and from the same manufacturer.

Martech Services “Point of Attachment” components provide stand-alone Grade D breathing air with multi-gas monitoring. Any of the 4-stage units can connect directly to any air source that can provide 50 SCFM of air. These in-line air filters remove moisture, oil, and dirt particles from compressed air before it reaches your respirator. Multi-stage filtration system includes activated charcoal to eliminate odors and improve the “taste” of your breathing air.
The P20 unit is a belt mounted Point of Attachment complete air preparation unit. You connect ONE LINE to any compressed air source. The air is split to provide air to the first leg which provides air for your paint guns and other pneumatic devices. The other leg feeds the breathing air. This combination gives you enough air volume to dry, filter and clean your breathing air while you paint.
The Personal Air Breathing Unit is a complete filtration and monitoring system, it is a “Point of Attachment” designed to be worn on your waist. The Personal Air Breathing Unit is designed to comply with OSHA 29CFR1910.134, Respiratory Protection regulation, for Grade “D” Breathable Air. The single line hose design improves users efficiency and makes it easy to use, wherever clean, compressed air is available.
Model P-20
The Personal Air Breathing Unit includes a breathing air filter to remove oil vapors, hydrocarbons, toxins, paint/paint thinner and odors commonly found in compressed air systems. The built- in carbon monoxide monitor continuously monitors the filtered air for compliance with current OSHA standards. The monitor is equipped with both audible and visual alarms, and operates on a single alkaline battery. An integral pressure regulator with gauge is provided to set the pressure for a NIOSH approved mask or hood. Also, a 54” tool hose is provided from a “Y” prior to the P-20 unit, to complete the assembly for a single line hose system.
The Personal Air Breathing Unit can be used WITH ANY appropriate NIOSH approved mask or hood, when the use of an air-supplied respirator is required, to provide proper protection from airborne contaminants. It should not be used in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH).
This video shows the ease of use of P-20. Clean supplied air and an airline whip for painting. All supplied by one standard 1/2″ airline connection to shop air. No multiple lines to tangle. No need for expensive 50′ or 100′ sections of special Grade D airline.
Model 50 Portable Systems
The Quality Air Breathing System manufactured by Martech Services Company is designed to provide Grade “D” Breathable air for compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.
PURPOSE: To effectively remove liquid water, oily gaseous hydrocarbons, dirt, rust, scale and other potentially dangerous contaminants, to provide safe compressed breathing air. Then the onboard carbon monoxide monitor continuously samples the air supplied for compliance with current OSHA standards.
A complete Quality Air Breathing System consists of four stage filtration, weep drain, broad band monitor, visual and audible alarms, self relieving regulator with gauge, and quick connects, all case mounted. This system is designed to be used with a NIOSH/MSHA approved air supplied respirator. (available as optional equipment.) The respirators supplied by the Model 50 System need to be connected from Model 50 to respirator by Grade D airlines.
